Pot Melt Kit Components

You do not need a Vitrigraph kiln to do a pot melt. Just frames or dams to melt the glass in.

You can order the Guide without the kit for 20$

Pot Melt Kit: 70$

  • All Pots and plates are lined with fiber.

  • Fiber resource is on the Resources page at the end of this document.

  • Plates are 6” square and I lay the plate on fiber square and outline the holes and cut out with

XACTO knife so glass can flow through openings.

Pot Melt Kit

As a fused glass artist, I collect a lot of scrap glass. Every time glass is cut for a project, there is excess material that will not be used right away. I recycle and reuse as many scraps in my glass processes as possible, but I still feel like I have too much.

Along comes the pot melt. The principle of a pot melt is to fill a container with fusible glass. It is heated at a high temperature with extended hold times, so the glass flows from the container to either a form or a kiln shelf below. Many have made molds using ceramic pots, Silkemat, or metal pots.

As a Vitrigraph metal pot vendor, I designed a Pot Melt kit. I use these extensively to create Vitrigraph Murrini components, and suddenly, I do not have enough scrap! I designed three plates for this concept that can be used with either the 4” or 5” Vitrigraph pots.

The Kit includes:

  • a 2-part Pot

  • three plates

  • E-Book: step-by-step guide with firing schedules, calculating volumes, tips and much more (hyperlinked throughtout)
